World AIDS Day 2010

Many might not be aware but if you lurk a lot on social networking sites, then you should have heard or read about the World AIDS Day by now.

December 1st is the World AIDS Day. It’s unlike October Pink that spans to the period of 31 days but World AIDS Day is only one day. Like many other days, today is dedicated to raising awareness of HIV and AIDS around the world. Now that social media is stronger than ever, you too can do a tad to show your support.

One of the easiest ways to show your support to the World AIDS Day is to use the Twibbon either on your Twitter or Facebook, or both. Head over to Twibbon World #HIV #AIDS Day page and select which network would you like to add Twibbon to.

Then, click on ‘Show my support now!’

You’ll need to allow the application by logging into the social networking site. Rest assured, they don’t keep your login details - it’s for a good cause after all, isn’t it? That’s all! :)

Nike users, if you noticed, Nike(RED) came out with the RED shoelace some time ago. It was being sold at RM 15. Every pair of Nike RED shoelaces sold, “Nike is contributing 100% of its profits from the sale to the Global Fund and to soccer-based programs that help fight AIDS.”

I have laced up, how about you? #laceupsavelives (on Twitter).

There are plenty of other things you could do to show your support. Visit the World AIDS Day official website - to see how you can show your support and some real stories of people living with HIV AIDS.

Pledge your support.
